Originally developed to be shown at Infosys’ hub at the World Economic Forum’ Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland in 2016, Earth360 is an immersive experience into both natural and human effects on the planet, including damage from fires, deforestation, and other types of climate change. The experience brings statistics to life in stunning reality, providing a 360 degree view of our world in an immensely personal and intimate way. This was my first project with VR. I mainly played a supporting role, but learned a lot about the capabilities of VR to help tell stories. This project led to a realization that technology can be used as a lens through which we see ourselves and our worlds differently. In this experience, the word's of Carl Sagan begin to take on a meaning more understood to us who have never left the gravity of Earth. "On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives." Connecting this perspective with data in Earth 360, we believe, helps promote the discussion around climate change in a more personal way.
